Pre-flop play is the first stage of poker round. Your goal in this stage should be either to narrow the field by betting big or to simply see the flop cheaply. First case is when we have strong hand, and odds are on our side before the flop. Depending on the position hands with which you should raise 3-5 times big blind are :
- AA, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, AKx, AQx, AJs, ATs if you’re in first, second or third position from the button (from the dealer)
- 99, 88, AJx, ATs if your fourth, fifth or sixths or seventh from the button
- Any pair, suited connectors, any two face cards - if your eight or ninth from the button
